U.S Sen. Bob Casey speaks with Tribune-Review reporter Paul Guggenheimer on Friday.

Congressional negotiators are close to a deal on a long-delayed $900 billion covid-19 economic relief bill. But they are not there yet.

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat from Scranton, talked to the Tribune-Review about where things stand and whether a partial government shutdown can be avoided before a midnight deadline Friday.

Casey also spoke about the need for a New Deal-style jobs program to boost the economy and provide jobs for out-of-work Americans, as well as his thoughts on vaccines and the Senate’s ability to work with the incoming Biden administration.
