State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler), chairman of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, will host an informational meeting at the state capitol Wednesday featuring a presentation from geologist and climate-change skeptic Gregory Wrightstone.

Wrightstone is the author of “Inconvenient Facts, The science that Al Gore doesn’t want you to know,” a book which argues that that CO2 emissions and rising temperature are improving the planet rather than harming it.

He’s been a geologist for 35 years, with a masters in geology from West Virginia University.

At the meeting Wrightstone will present his research and debunk “modern myths surrounding the ‘climate change’ discussion,” according to an announcement from Metcalfe’s office.

Wrightstone rebuked Gov. Tom Wolf in article for The Daily Caller in December after Wolf said climate change posted “real problems.”

“The hubris of politicians notwithstanding, the direction of the climate should be left to the solar cycles that have been driving it for eons,” Wrightstone wrote.

The Sierra Club, an environmental group, urged ts members to call Metcalfe’s office to protest the meeting with Wrightstone, stating that Metcalfe was “using his position to provide a platform for other climate deniers.”

The meeting will be livestreamed on Metcalfe’s website at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
