Student research and artistic talent will be on display April 24 during Saint Vincent College’s 16th Annual Academic Conference.
Open to the public, the conference is scheduled for 2:30 to 7 p.m. in the Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion on the college campus in Unity. Admission is free.
The multidisciplinary exposition will showcase the work of nearly 250 Saint Vincent students in various formats — including posters, presentations, panel sessions and performances. Topics range from anthropology to biochemistry, graphic design, music, politics and theology.
Brother Mark Floreanini, associate professor of fine arts, has arranged student demonstrations in illustration, printmaking, stained glass and wheel-thrown pottery.
Projects will be displayed by participants in the college’s Bearcat B.E.S.T. (Building Education through Skills Training) program, for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are transitioning from high school.
Visitors also may learn about two initiatives at the Fred Rogers Center at Saint Vincent — Simple Interactions, an approach to early education that builds on day-to-day interactions among children and adults, and Incubator 143, an undergraduate research and development group focused on creating positive change for children’s development.
