AOC trades barbs with Fetterman, apologizes to Conor Lamb

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York reached out publicly to apologize to fellow Democrat and former U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb.

In a post on the social media platform X, AOC tweeted a response to Lamb’s post critiquing Democrat Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman. Lamb, of Mt. Lebanon, lost to Fetterman in the 2022 Senate primary. Fetterman won the seat that November.

Fetterman has been angering some Democrats with some of his political positions, described by many as centrist. He has also expressed openness to working with President Donald Trump.

“I was wrong about you and I’m sorry,” the post from Ocasio-Cortez directed at Lamb reads. “Where do I submit my Conor Lamb apology form.”

Lamb replied to AOC’s apology in the thread:

“No need — clearly we have been on the same side of the oligarchy question (against) and protecting Social Security and Medicare (for) …. let’s make that team as big as possible. Good luck on the road,” his reply reads.

AOC then replied again:

“Amen. Thank you for all you do and let’s go get ‘em ❤️,” she wrote.

In the initial post, Lamb had quote-tweeted a response to Fetterman’s post regarding an Axios article headlined, “AOC: ‘We need a Democratic Party that fights harder for us.’ ”

Lamb’s reply to Fetterman, which sparked AOC’s apology, read:

“You are collaborating with — rather than fighting — people who:

”- destroyed union rights at Philly airport;

”- singled out a huge employer in our state (Penn) for a $175m cut;

”- announced closure of mine safety offices and even one for the Flight 93 memorial.

“Just this week.”

Lamb lost by more than 30 percentage points in the May 2022 Senate Democratic primary to Fetterman, who lives in Braddock.

Lamb, who won a special election in a Republican district for Congress in March 2018, was reelected twice. He announced his bid for the Senate seat in August 2021. Fetterman had announced his candidacy six months earlier
