Company shames job applicant for bikini photo: ‘This is not doing you any favors’

A marketing company got itself some bad publicity after it used a job applicant’s bikini photo to advise women to be more modest online.
Emily Clow, 24, from Austin, Texas, had applied for marketing coordinator internship with Kickass Masterminds, reports Yahoo News. The marketing company, founded and primarily run by women, claims to be “hell-bent on helping entrepreneurs grow businesses faster than they could on their own.”
Clow told Yahoo News she filled out the online application and was then prompted to follow Kickass Masterminds’ Instagram account “for an advantage over other applicants.” She was shocked to find a photo of herself in a swimsuit on the company’s account with advice for other applicants.
“PSA (because I know some of you applicants are looking at this),” was overlaid on Clow’s photo. “Do not share your social media with a potential employer if this is the kind of content on it. I am looking for a potential marketer–not a bikini model.”

“Go on with your bad self and do whatever in private,” the text continued. “But this is not doing you any favors in finding a professional job.”
Clow passed a screenshot along to the Twitter account SheRatesDogs, a popular repository for unsolicited advances, threats and demeaning insults women experience on social media, according to Yahoo News.
The photo was posted Monday on SheRatesDogs where it has accumulated more than 60,000 likes and 7,700 retweets.

Clow is reportedly still interested in the position, and Kickass Masterminds claims she is still in the running.
