A man terrorized shoppers by driving his golf cart into a Walmart and crashing into a cash register, according to police.

Michael Dale Hudson, 56, is accused of ignoring Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies’ orders to stop as he drove through the front doors and raced toward the checkout area, hitting several customers, The Tampa Bay Times reported.

Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office had been speaking with Hudson outside the Gibsonton store Thursday when they say he suddenly sped toward the main entrance, nearly hitting several people.

Hudson drove the golf cart through the front doors and toward the checkout area where he struck several patrons while others jumped out of the way, deputies told The Tampa Bay Times.

The injured shoppers were treated at the scene and Hudson was taken into custody, The Times reported. He went to Tampa General Hospital prior to booking on several charges.
