Letter to the editor: Ashamed of our president

I am an older man, listened to the results of the Truman/Dewey election. I know that everyone makes mistakes. I know that our national debt is too big, and that our government is too big and too expensive. I know that many dictators have come to power through the process of the Big Lie: “Tell big enough lies often enough, and many people will come to believe them.”

Now we have a “deal maker” in power. Maybe he is just setting the stage to make his deal — maybe! But I have never been as ashamed of our No. 1 and No. 2 elected (slim margin) officials as the lying, bulling, uncouth performance at the White House during the visit of the president of another nation.
