Letter to the editor: Assumptions about Hegseth

Regarding the op-ed “Hey Hegseth — for Pete’s sake, get a Eureka! moment” and the letter ”McCormick’s Hegseth vote is telling” (Jan. 31, TribLive): The first writer compares his own issues with unproven accusations against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. This op-ed is pure speculation and is more a history of the writer’s own struggles and thus should be completely disregarded; it should never have been published.

The letter blasts Sen. Dave McCormick for voting to confirm Hegseth, claiming he is an unqualified, immoral candidate. This writer is obviously an expert in the administration of the Department of Defense.

My advice to both of these writers is to chill out and let’s see what happens. If Hegseth falls flat on his face, then you can claim victory. However, if he is successful, as I believe he will be, then you need to issue an apology.
