Want an option for energy but can’t afford the upfront cost of individually owned solar? Community solar might be the answer.
Community solar would provide solar energy with guaranteed savings for all who subscribe to it. It builds on Pennsylvania’s history of being an energy leader. It creates dual-use opportunities for farms, people with extra land, businesses and churches. And it has the capacity to address the energy capacity crisis quickly because solar is the fastest, cheapest form of energy we can add to the grid.
House Bill 504, the Community Energy Act, would enable community solar to allow Pennsylvanians to choose local solar with guaranteed savings. HB 504 has been passed in the state House with strong bipartisan support and now needs to pass in the state Senate.
Almost half the states in the U.S. have already passed a community solar law. It is time for Pennsylvania to get on board with community solar. Ask your Pennsylvania senator to support HB 504 and pass the Community Energy Act.
