Letter to the editor: Consequences of Trump win concerning
This election has my head spinning. Robert Kennedy Jr. has dropped out of the presidential race and now supports Donald Trump! Can a brain worm do that?
Then there is the border. Trump rails against criminal activity by illegals. But surely many such “criminals” crossed when he was president. Best of all, he killed the toughest border control legislation in decades just so he could have an issue to run on.
Even more galling is Trump’s refusal to support meaningful gun legislation. How many schoolchildren must die before assault weapons are banned? How can you denounce border criminality but care nothing about epidemic domestic gun violence?
One cannot but wonder what the world will think if we elect a criminal as president, a person found liable for sexual assault and a felon on 34 counts. What other democratic nation would even allow a convict to run in the first place?
And what kind of justice system do we have that can be tied into knots by the likes of Trump — where money and judicial corruption can forever delay justice?
Finally, there is the specter of Trump losing the election’s popular vote but again winning through the archaic Electoral College. It can happen. And I shudder to think of the consequences.
Like I said, my head is spinning!
