So much for the Republicans not touching Medicare in the “Big Beautiful Bill.” They gave seniors a $6,000 tax deduction instead of not taxing Social Security Income. For most people this results in an extra $600 back on your tax return. However, if you have regular Medicare coverage (not sure how the Advantage plans are affected), your plan D insurance (which now runs about $13/month) will increase by $50/month, which nullifies your tax refund. And this tax break expires in either three or five years, but the insurance premium increase will not! Who knows what other sleights of hand that affect health insurance are in this abominable bill?

It is the health insurance cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and the subsidies for Obamacare that the Democrats are fighting to reinstate into the budget that has the government shut down to keep health care affordable. The Republicans are lying to your face when they claim Democrats want to give health care to undocumented immigrants. Undocumented workers get no healthcare, Social Security benefits or anything else. They do pay local, state, federal and Social Security taxes, but will never receive benefits, although their contributions to these institutions help support the rest of us.

Hope Democrats stay strong!
