Letter to the editor: DOGE for Dummies

Remember all the “for Dummies” books that were so popular in the ’90s and 2000s? I would like to propose a “DOGE for Dummies/Democrats” to help caterwauling lefties understand why Elon Musk’s new department is necessary. Consider the following analogy:
Let’s say you move into a neighborhood with a homeowners association (HOA). Let’s say this HOA requires homeowners to pay $1,000 a year which, you are told, is to be used for the general upkeep of the neighborhood, enforcing neighborhood rules and a special fund for catastrophic events.
A year later, your HOA comes to you and says, “We now need $2,000 per year.” You ask, “What did you do with the money I gave you last year?” They proceed to explain that they funded the installation of several signs warning drivers of safety concerns. You agree that was a worthwhile expense. “Anything else?” you ask. You find out that your money subsidized your neighbors’ 7-year-old’s gender affirming care. “Why is my money funding that?” You’re asked why you hate children. “And where do you think the money came from for all those Black Lives Matter signs on the lawns?” you’re asked.
You, of course, question the legitimacy of this expense. You’re asked why you hate Black people. “And we helped fund the new environmentally friendly dog park across town.” “Wait,” you say, “that’s not even in our neighborhood!” You’re asked why you hate dogs.
This is how I see Democrats stewarding your tax dollars. And why we have a $36 trillion national debt.
