My thanks to the writer of the satirical letter “Flags fly in support of Biden” (Sept. 24, TribLIVE) equating flag- flying with support for President Biden. It started my Sunday off with a good chuckle.
Biden’s own party seems to consider “Old Glory” a symbol of America’s racist past (and present, according to some of them). Some Democrats see it as an “existential threat” and a symbol for “racist” Trump supporters. The majority of conservatives see it as a symbol of patriotism and American pride, regardless of who sits in the Oval Office.
Biden has been an unmitigated disaster from day one of his term:
• Has not secured our southern border, allowing millions of undocumented immigrants and drugs to flood the country.
• Ordered the catastrophic withdrawal of our forces from Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of 13 U.S. servicemen and women.
• Foolishly spent trillions of dollars, adding to our already unmanageable federal deficit and causing record inflation.
• Poured (and is still pouring) billions of dollars and U.S. military equipment into a seemingly endless conflict in Ukraine.
• Emptied our Strategic Petroleum Reserve in a futile attempt to lower record fuel prices, making us vulnerable for future national emergencies.
