To Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey and Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato:

My name is Andy Luterman. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. My father, 92, stills lives in Squirrel Hill. In November 1986, I moved to Israel, where I have lived ever since.

I was very distressed to see that you, along with U.S. Rep. Summer Lee, recently issued a statement on the bestial terrorist assault and war of aggression that was launched against Israel by Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists (whom you pointedly failed to even mention, let alone condemn) in October of last year.

Has either of you ever been to Israel? I invite you to visit. I will go with you to Be’eri, Sderot, and the site of the NOVA festival. We can meet with former hostages, the families of those still being held hostage and some of the more than 60,000 Israelis who have been displaced by the war. We can visit the Druze and Israeli Arab communities that have also suffered, and screen the raw footage of the atrocities that were perpetrated on Oct. 7.

I am very serious. Please be in touch!

Andy Luterman
