Letter to the editor: Look deeper into Ukraine, Zelenskyy

Tribune-Review

Regarding the article “Ukrainian supporters rally in Pittsburgh after Trump’s contentious meeting with Zelenskyy” (March 4, TribLive): I do agree the meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was contentious, for reasons overlooked in the article.

I suggest in-depth research from various sources on Zelenskyy, as to why he is still in power and where the billions of our tax money has gone, and the advice he was given by Democrats before the meeting.

Then please explain why you want to continue funding this war and the killing for “as long as it takes” as opposed to a negotiated peace. “Security guarantees” is a euphemism for American boots on the ground. Why are you willing to send your sons and daughters to fight and die for as long as it takes? Iraq, Afghanistan … and if you don’t remember Vietnam, visit the wall.

Perhaps if so many of the sign- carrying folks weren’t blinded by Trump Derangement Syndrome, they could see that keeping your friends close and your enemies closer is an extremely wise philosophy whether dealing with a thoughtless neighbor who could ruin your garden or an evil dictator who could ruin the world as we know it.
