Letter to the editor: Not better off now

Am I better off than I was four years ago?

In January 2020, my electric bill was $102 a month; in July 2024 it was $168 (I have a heat pump for heating and cooling). That’s an over 60% increase in less than four years. I attribute it to the Democrats’ war on coal with the closing of coal-fired plants, loss of jobs and China building more than 4,700 since the 1970s with no pollution controls. A lot of other prices have gone up too. Oil affects everything.

Democrats, Republicans, independents and others all went to school and learned the same math. Why are the Democrats’ saying they’re better off now than they were with Trump? Are they using different math than the rest of us?

A friend suggested having two gas stations, one for Trump supporters with cheap domestic gas and one for Democrats with more expensive oil from foreign countries (you know, the ones that President Biden begged for more oil production that showed him being a strong leader).

Oil companies made the same percent of profits from either. This way the Democrats can still pay the prices for gas that they’re happy with and can’t afford. Maybe we can do this for everything else too. Based on Biden/Harris past policies, that’s not going to happen.

I vote based on what people will do and what they done in the past. I don’t see any change with Harris if she’s elected; it’s only going to get worse!

Please, God help us and get everyone to vote for Trump.
