As we enter cold and flu season on top of continued covid-19 risks, Plant-Based Pittsburgh reminds everyone about the importance of nutrition in strengthening our immune systems and supporting overall health. Mortality data shows that over 90% of the people who have died from covid-19 suffered from preexisting medical conditions, often arising from a lifetime of poor nutrition.

Evidence suggests individuals who consume a nutritious plant-based diet with vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes and nuts boost their immune systems, decrease their risk for chronic diseases and increase their production of covid-19 antibodies. Plant-Based Pittsburgh encourages families to embrace plant-centered food choices as part of daily efforts to stay healthy and avoid the worst effects of this pandemic.
