Residents in Senate District 39 and House District 55 are extremely fortunate to be represented by two outstanding women — Kim Ward in the Senate and Jill Cooper in the House.

After serving as a township supervisor and county commissioner, Ward was elected to the state Senate in 2008. Using her experience in local government and no-nonsense approach to leadership, she has advanced to the position of president pro tempore of the Senate. In addition to her governmental duties, she has encouraged numerous corporations to relocate or stay in the state, thus making Pennsylvania more competitive in good-paying jobs. She strengthened laws against child abuse and sex trafficking and enacted laws related to breast cancer to reduce the cost for testing and treatment.

Since beginning as a freshman representative in January 2023, Cooper moved to quickly learn the intricacies of getting things done in an equally divided Legislature. Only a year after being sworn in, she had her first bill passed unanimously in the House and Senate and signed into law. That’s a remarkably short time for a freshman member, even more so since only seven Republican bills were passed! Her bill corrected a problem in which school districts lost funding if students had dual enrollment in junior colleges or universities. Beneficiaries are students, families and school districts.

Both have served us extremely well and have certainly earned reelection. Let’s do our part and vote to continue their important work in Harrisburg.
