Letter to the editor: Republican endorsements cowardly

With the election of RINO Sen. Greg Rothman as Pennsylvania GOP chair, I fully expect the party to endorse its candidate for governor. There were 15 candidates for governor in 2021-22 when I ran. I don’t believe the party will want a repeat of “just anybody” thinking they can run. This will be a controlled red carpet process utilizing committee manpower to shut out the unendorsed. Why should they let the public pick the candidate in a free society?

The problem in Pennsylvania is that it is not the committees who pick the primary winner. It is the patriot groups who do. The true power belongs to the people.

Endorsing works well at the local level where the committees can manipulate the voters at the polls. When I ran for Westmoreland County commissioner in 2023, the Westmoreland County Republican Committee endorsed Doug Chew/Sean Kertes. Chair Bill Bretz sued candidate Paul Kosko and myself three times to get us off the ballot, and lost three times, all the way to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. But they stopped us at the polls by deceiving the public with their slate cards by saying Chew and Kertes were the only Republicans on their card.

Bretz and his WCRC “homies” just endorsed for the primary even though there are zero Democratic challengers. What are they afraid of, competition? Bretz said it’s about fiscal responsibility. He must’ve missed our 32.5% tax increase.

Wake up, R’s. President Trump won’t fix everything. National socialists are winning the smaller races while you sit at home.
