Letter to the editor: Republicans must come together

Now that the election is over, and the American people overwhelmingly chose capitalism over socialism, it’s time to come together and repair the damage done to the nation over the past four years. We don’t need to agree that the right candidates won the elections, but the vast majority of American citizens do agree that the country has been on the wrong track.

Now that the Republican Party holds the presidency and both houses of Congress, they need to work together to solve the nation’s many problems. There is no time for infighting in the Republican caucus as in the past when in power. As much as I disagree with the policies of the new Democratic Party, I admire their ability to stick together and vote as a bloc. The Republican leadership needs to learn from them and convey to their members that getting a high percentage of what they want, but not everything, is still a win for the American people.

I’m confident that the American people will reward the Republican representatives in Congress with reelection if they see progress on the president-elect’s agenda and the rebuilding of this nation.
