Letter to the editor: Republicans’ nonsense

As a huge “Seinfeld” fan, I ask, “What’s the deal with Republicans?”

Here are a few examples: Donald Trump was recorded saying women should be punished for abortions. A U.S. congresswoman said the Parkland School shooting was staged. We’ve seen a video of another congresswoman fondling her date in a theater. A congressman encouraged Jan. 6 rioters with his fist in the air, but is seen later running for his life.

Trump’s new traveling companion is a lady friend who has insisted 9/11 was an inside job. The House speaker reads a Bible to make public policy. Veterans support Trump when he has belittled their service if disabled or captured. A Republican state senator said women have a choice: “She can keep her legs closed.” Trump says when you’re a celebrity, you can do anything to women.

Republicans say it’s OK to make up stories to get attention. They spread lies through the idea that repetition is persuasive, true or not. As demonstrated by the birther group, insurrectionists are patriots. We’ve heard despicable comments like “retribution takes time,” or “those in unhappy marriages should not get a divorce.” And the latest: Immigrants are eating your pets.

The above statements are outrageous and shameful. I’m looking forward to a Kamala Harris win to turn the page on this nonsense so I can stop writing these articles.

Lastly, to the Trib: great work on the very informative inflation articles.
