Letter to the editor: Speak up and save our nation

Real virtue — rooted in integrity, fairness and courage — has made our nation incredibly successful and the envy of the world.

But fake virtue threatens our continued success and even our survival. Fake virtue strives to enhance one’s reputation for advancement, wealth and acclaim without integrity.

Fake virtue is lack of courage so common in the leadership of corporations, universities, government, military, media and education.

It’s so easy to go along with trendy policies that don’t work. It’s so easy to cave to demagogues and say nothing when they are unfair.

It is so easy to tolerate doomsday climate change predictions and resultant policies that will deny future generations the prosperity we now enjoy.

It’ so easy to remain silent when bullies claim that we live in a racist society.

It’s so easy to hush up when corrupt educators and politicians promote socialist, anti-free market ideas that will lead to dark times of oppression and poverty.

It’s so easy to keep quiet when radical activists call to ban fossil fuels that are the lifeblood of our economy.

It’s time to stop taking the easy way out and have the courage to speak up to save our nation from ridiculous and dangerous ideas.
