Letter to the editor: Stand up against tariff madness

Tariffs are paid by importers to the U.S. government. The U.S. government keeps the money.

The price of goods sold will go up to cover this government levy. U.S. citizens will then pay higher prices on any and every item that has been tariffed.

The U.S. government is setting you up to buy overpriced goods as they profit from each transaction. It is in essence a devious way to tax you when you buy things.

It is time for a government by, of and for the billionaires to perish from our country. A government that does not serve all of the people it governs is not worth having.

Our senators and representatives could put an end to this tariff madness. Please ask them to do the right thing for the people they are supposed to represent. Encourage everyone you know to do so as well. Or we can all just stay quiet while our government sets us up to be robbed.

Please stand up for yourself. Please pick up the phone.
