Letter to the editor: Support good work of Greensburg VFD Bloodhound Team

I have noticed a growing number of news alerts asking for the public’s help in finding people who are missing from various institutions, such as nursing homes and senior care facilities, as well as Alzheimer’s patients and children. Recently I learned about the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department’s Bloodhound Team and the outstanding work it does in assisting in finding these significantly at-risk people.

The team holds membership in the National Police Bloodhound Association, the only membership in that organization that is not a 100% law enforcement agency. This team is totally a volunteer effort and must fund-raise in order to cover all costs for the training and care of the dogs and the needs of the team and equipment. Please give your financial support to all the team’s fundraisers.
