Letter to the editor: This government shake-up is necessary

I can’t remember a government shake-up like this one in all of my 70 years. Although many are having tantrums and making apocalyptic warnings, it is way overdue.
Thomas Jefferson rightly said that “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” This is needed to protect our constitutional republic from tyranny. Unfortunately, in this digital age of constant distraction, where 90% of media is controlled by six corporations with the same agenda, most people are unaware of the severity of the situation.
After 250 years the United States government has become so corrupt, so bloated, so inefficient, so wasteful, so intrusive, so treasonous that it’s impossible to comprehend. The express intent of our Founding Fathers was that of limited government, but now it’s the largest employer in America. Its natural state is that of continual growth and increasing complexity. Its budget is incalculable. It’s a beast that must be stopped.
The shake-up will cause some pain and disruption, but that is necessary to refresh the tree of liberty. Although those with a vested interest in this corrupt system will cry loudly, patriots who love this country will pray even louder.
