How can anyone seriously call President Trump a dictator when he has complied with every judicial injunction issued against him — even the ones that appear blatantly partisan? A true dictator would simply ignore the courts.
Some argue that judges have the right to block policies they personally disagree with. But that’s not their role. In a democracy, it’s the voters who decide policy direction. Trump was elected based on his campaign promises, and it is the judiciary — not him — that has overstepped its bounds.
For years, Trump has endured relentless criticism from liberal media outlets, yet he has never retaliated by jailing journalists or silencing dissent. The progressive hosts of “The View” are free to say whatever they like, even if it’s untrue. Real dictators imprison opposition media — Trump has not.
Meanwhile, the previous Democratic administration pursued legal action against numerous Trump allies, including Gen. Michael Flynn, Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Peter Navarro, Linda McMahon, Charles Kushner, Paul Manafort and Steve Bannon. Yet prominent Democrats like Hillary Clinton faced no charges for arguably more serious conduct.
During the covid crisis, Democratic leaders imposed sweeping mandates: shutting down churches and businesses, forcing vaccinations under threat of job loss and restricting visits to loved ones in care facilities. These are hallmarks of authoritarian control.
The accusation of dictatorship is misplaced. It’s not Trump who has acted like an authoritarian — it’s the Democrats.
