Letter to the editor: Trump not delivering on his promises

Tribune-Review

I voted for Kamala Harris for many reasons, one being that her predictions about a Trump presidency were spot on. Rather than focusing on lightening the economic loads, he would focus on petty retribution on those who challenged his video-evidenced misdeeds or beat him in an election. Doing what’s good, honorable and right would never stand in the way of money- and power-grubbing. No mistakes would be owned up to and, therefore, never corrected. Better to crash an economy, crush a workforce or destroy a reputation internationally. And he would gin up bogeymen — the woke, LGBTQs and migrants — to distract attention and deflect blame.

Has he delivered on any of his comically exaggerated promises? Not on Day One (as pledged) but Day 100, peace in Ukraine and Israel? Stocks skyrocketing, prices down, GDP up, new small businesses popping up like weeds and jobs for everyone? And if all these new factories are built after years of price-hiked everything … are they factories of the ’50s, bustling with humans, or Muskian factories of today bustling with robots?

Did we hand the ball to a quarterback and team just lacking the smarts, dedication and skills to beat today’s fearsome opponents — deadly new viruses, pervasive cybercrime, rapid-fire natural disasters and their climate change accelerants, increasing poverty, and, yes, an aging population?

The Steelers collapse midseason, we gripe plenty, but in 2025 we happily fielded a team of scrubs at the get-go, quarterbacked by a guy who proved his true talent years ago. Down a touchdown against covid, he threw a pick six.
