Letter to the editor: Trump's war on women
President Trump said that he would protect women, whether the women like it or not. However, through his actions, I belieev he has declared a war on women. By demonizing “DEI,” he seems to be seeking to wipe out the gains women have made since the 1960s, gains in equality at work, at school and in society.
Millions of dollars in funding for domestic violence programs have been frozen. Trump is illegally withholding taxpayer dollars from being used to help women who have been victims of domestic violence or sexual assault.
Women are the major recipients of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, which Trump is attempting to limit or abolish. Women and children are also the major recipients of food stamps, also on the chopping block.
Words like equality, gender and women are now on a government blacklist of some 250 words that will get your grants canceled and your scientific research defunded.
Protecting a handful of women from isolated instances of harm from illegal immigrants or transgenders pales in comparison to the millions of women endangered by Trump’s cruel, heartless policies.
