The article “Westmoreland County takes over $91K salary, benefits for drug task force head” (July 25, TribLIVE) was very interesting. A $250,000 grant, $91,000 a year for a single salary since 2016, means none of the money has gone toward drug awareness.

Now here’s the rub: The commissioners in their infinite wisdom have decided to use your tax dollars to pay a salary to someone who does exactly what? Commissioner Ted Kopas said, “Given the value that the executive director has brought and that the crisis has continued, it’s a smart investment.” Well, I disagree. It’s not a smart investment; it’s a waste.
