Letter to the editor: Wishful thinking on term limits
You editorial “Term limits return power to people” (April 11, TribLive) is a wonderful idea, but … impracticable. For what reason do the politicians have for giving back any power they possess? Look at their track record over the past 50 years of governing on behalf of we the people.
More frightening, look at their track record the past 10 years. In Pennsylvania we cannot do a ballot initiative. The only power we have is on Election Day between the time the polls open and close.
Further, what value or chance do you have if you are an independent or not one of the party loyalists?
I applaud you for being bold enough to speak up publicly. I will then say you are so wishful (naive) as to believe that of their own volition they would voluntarily offer the public such an opportunity. Please keep trying to slay the dragons, Don Quixote.
