Pancake breakfast

Scout Troop 138 is holding an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with sausage and beverages from 8 a.m.-noon May 11 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1719 Mt. Royal Boulevard, across from Shaler Area Middle School. Adults are $8, seniors $6 and children 12 and under are $5. All moms, veterans and EMS, fire and police personnel can eat for just $5. Kindergarten registration event

Shaler Area School district is holding a kindergarten registration event from 4-7 p.m. on April 9 for all families with students who will enter kindergarten in the 2024-25 school year. It will be at the district central offices, 1800 Mt. Royal Boulevard.

Blood drive

A blood drive through Vitalant is being held at Glenshaw Presbyterian Church. 300 Glenn Ave. on April 14 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. You can make a donation by scheduling an appointment to donate by going to vitalant.org and search with Account Code UG0010070, by zip code or by calling 1-877-25VITAL.

Oldies dance

The Elfinwild Lions Club is sponsoring an Oldies Dance on April 13 at St. Ursula’s Church Hall on Duncan Avenue from 7:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple and include hot sausage, hot dogs, macaroni salad, snacks, pop and beer. BYOB. For tickets, call 412-487-1888.

Earth Day cleanup

In honor of Earth Day. Shaler Township is asking residents to volunteer to clean up a street of their choice within the township during April. Gloves and bags will be provided. Plant sale

Give your garden a face-lift this spring by shopping at the Shaler Garden Club’s 70th annual Plant Sale on May 4 from 9 a.m.- noon at Kiwanis Park. A variety of hardy perennials from members’ yards will be offered at bargain prices, along with herbs, vegetables, houseplants, bulbs, potted arrangements and hanging baskets, perfect for Mother’s Day gifts. A basket raffle and bake sale will add to the festivities. Come rain or shine. Proceeds benefit community projects and philanthropic donations of the Shaler Garden Club.
