Gateway’s Summer Raymer competes in the girls 500-yard freestyle during the WPIAL Class AAA swimming championships Feb. 28, 2020, at Pitt’s Trees Pool.

Allegheny Mountain Swimming recently announced its swimmers who earned scholastic All-American honors for the 2018-19 academic year based on requirements set by USA Swimming.

The All-American recognition combines the swimmer’s accomplishments in the pool for his or her club programs as well as achievements in the classroom.

To make the All-American list, a swimmer was required to achieve a 3.5 or higher grade-point average, earn a cut for either the Speedo sectional or futures meets and be a member of their high school team.

The qualification period ran from Aug. 2018 to Aug. 2019, and 34 student-athletes, all from WPIAL schools, met the requirements.
