Joey Bart ended his rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis and was activated from the 7-day injured list, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced Tuesday afternoon.

The 28-year-old catcher rejoined the Pirates in Detroit ahead of a three-game series vs. the Tigers at Comerica Park.

Bart suffered a concussion behind the plate May 27 on the road in Arizona and was placed on the injured list the following day.

Spending the next two weeks navigating through MLB concussion protocol, Bart joined Triple-A June 11 to begin a rehab assignment.

While there, he batted .231 with two RBIs in five games.

Prior to suffering his concussion, Bart had appeared in 44 games with the Pirates this season, slashing .240/.347/.308 with one home run, five doubles and 11 RBIs.

In his absence, Henry Davis had assumed everyday catching duties, backed up by 31-year-old Brett Sullivan, who was designated for assignment Monday.
