District college football roundup: Kutztown tops Cal (Pa.) to repeat as PSAC champs

Jaedyn Stewart rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown and caught an 8-yard scoring pass from Judd Novak to lead No. 3 Kutztown to a 21-14 victory over Cal (Pa.) in the PSAC championship game Saturday to repeat as conference champs.
The Vulcans (8-2) pulled to within seven points with 1:52 left on quarterback Davis Black’s 3-yard touchdown run, but Kutztown (11-0) recovered the ensuing onside kick. Novak threw for 149 yards for Kutztown while Black threw for 193 yards and rushed for 42 yards and both Cal (Pa.) touchdowns.
East Stroudsburg 22, Clarion 19 – Sean McTaggart threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns as East Stroudsburg (10-1) slipped past Clarion (3-8) in a PSAC crossover game. Clarion took a 19-14 lead early in the fourth quarter on Anthony Guercio’s 2-yard touchdown run, but East Stroudsburg went ahead for good when McTaggart hit Matt Frame with a 12-yard touchdown pass with 8:07 left in the game. Guercio ran for 118 yards while teammate Ray Jackson caught three passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.
IUP 38, Shippensburg 7 – Quarterback Karst Hunter ran for 113 yards and three touchdowns to lead IUP (7-3) to a PSAC crossover victory. Garrett Cox had nine tackles, including three for a loss, for IUP, which outgained Shippensburg 457-159. Jaimen Bryant had a 35-yard touchdown catch for Shippensburg (2-9).
Lock Haven 21, Gannon 13 – Jackson Ostrowsky threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns to lead Lock Haven (5-6) to the PSAC crossover win over Gannon (3-7). Lock Haven’s T’iar Young caught nine passes for 112 yards and a touchdown while teammate Damir Green ran for 101 yards and a TD. Darryl Pollard had two of four Lock Haven interceptions. Jayden Whitaker tossed for 308 yards and ran for a touchdown for Gannon while Donell Mason caught seven passes for 120 yards.
Millersville 23, Edinboro 21 – Trent McDowell kicked a 26-yard field goal as time expired to give Millersville (1-10) its first win of the season in PSAC crossover play at Edinboro (3-8). Millersville jumped to a 20-0 lead on three touchdown passes by Ryan Zeitt before Edinboro rallied to score the next 21 points, including two touchdown passes from Isaac Bernard to Jaret Frantz. Zeitt threw for 336 yards and teammate Brady Russell caught four passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Bernard threw for 306 yards while Frantz caught nine passes for 164 yards.
Shepherd 13, Seton Hill 10 – Malakai Brown and Jordan Barnett ran for 86 and 79 yards and Keith Baker kicked two field goals as Shepherd (6-5) overcame an early 10-point deficit to defeat Seton Hill (3-8). Jack Brutus had two sacks and J.T. Kouame-Yao contributed 1.5 sacks as Shepherd brought down Seton Hill quarterback Jake Cruz five times. Ky’Ron Craggette rushed for 85 yards and a 40-yard touchdown to pace Seton Hill’s offense.
Slippery Rock 27, Bloomsburg 7 – In PSAC crossover play, Idris Lawrence ran for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead No. 11 Slippery Rock (9-1) to victory over Bloomsburg (6-5). Brayden Long threw for 141 yards and ran for a touchdown and Mike Solomon caught five passes for 73 yards for the Rock.
Division III
Carnegie Mellon 37, Case Western 30 – Ben Mills capped off a 12-play, 63-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run with 1:21 to play to lead No. 16 Carnegie Mellon to a PAC victory. Case Western took a 30-29 lead on an 8-yard scoring pass from Aaron Filips to Alex Angello with 4:07 left. Mills threw for 193 yards and ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns for CMU (9-1, 9-1). Tre Vasiliadis ran for 111 yards. Filips threw for 315 yards and two scores and ran for 67 yards and a touchdown for Case Western (6-4, 6-4).
Geneva 33, Waynesburg 6 – David Reid ran for 92 yards and three touchdowns to lead Geneva (5-5, 5-5) to the PAC win against Waynesburg (4-6, 4-6). Caleb Romano threw for 164 yards and one touchdown and ran for 42 yards for Geneva. Zayne Cawley rushed for 113 yards for Waynesburg.
Grove City 36, Westminster 9 – Ian Demeri ran 30 times for 163 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 11 Grove City (9-1, 9-1) over Westminster (7-3, 7-3) in a PAC matchup. Logan Pfeuffer threw for 166 yards and one touchdown and ran for another TD for Grove City. Ty McGowan threw for 166 yards for Westminster.
Thiel 30, Bethany 23 – In PAC play, Deon Logan ran for 86 yards and three touchdowns and Jayveerh scored on a 95-yard kickoff return as Thiel (3-7, 3-7) defeated Bethany (1-9, 1-9). Jake Badger recorded 10 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles for Thiel’s defense. Brett Phillips threw for 218 yards and a touchdown for Bethany.
Washington & Jefferson 45, Allegheny 0 – Jacob Pugh completed 19 of 22 passes for 295 yards and five touchdowns as Washington & Jefferson (9-1, 9-1) claimed its 27th PAC championship by defeating Allegheny (1-9, 1-9). Jacob Macosko caught six passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns while John Peduzzi had seven receptions for 103 yards and two TDs. Washington & Jefferson outgained Allegheny 577-148 while picking up 36 first downs.
Division I FCS
St. Francis (Pa.) 34, Long Island University 27 – DeMarcus McElroy’s 19-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter lifted St. Francis (Pa.) over Long Island University in the Northeast Conference. Long Island (3-8, 2-3) had a third-and-10 on the St. Francis 15 with 11 seconds to go but a low shotgun snap got past Ethan Greenwood, who was sacked as time ran out. Nick Whitfield Jr. was 17-of-29 passing for 268 yards and two touchdowns for the Red Flash (4-6, 2-4). Markell Holman rushed for 73 yards and a score. Gavin Thomson had 103 yards receiving with a TD.
