District college football roundup: Washington & Jefferson drops Case Western

Jacob Pugh threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 19 Washington & Jefferson to a 34-21 victory over Case Western in PAC football Saturday afternoon.
Zach Cernuto caught 14 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown for the Presidents (8-1, 8-1) while teammate Kobe Derosa ran for 89 yards and two TDs. Alex Fromberg threw for 421 yards and two touchdowns for Case Western (6-2, 6-2) while Dylan Cave caught nine passes for 211 yards.
Carnegie Mellon 45, Westminster 20 – Tre Vasiliadis rushed for 187 yards and Ben Mills threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns as No. 16 Carnegie Mellon (7-1, 7-1) defeated Westminster (6-2, 6-2) in PAC play. Billy Levak came off the bench to throw for 89 yards and two late touchdowns for Westminster, which trailed 38-0 midway through the third quarter.
Grove City 51, Waynesburg 0 – Logan Pfeuffer completed 21 of 26 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns and No. 13 Grove City (7-1, 7-1) outgained Waynesburg (3-5, 3-5) 557-169 on its way to a PAC win. Scott Fraser caught 10 passes for 108 yards and three touchdowns while Nico Flati rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown. Zayne Cawley ran for 107 yards for Waynesburg.
Geneva 34, Bethany 27 – In PAC play, Keaton Baker caught five passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns from Caleb Romano as Geneva (4-4, 4-4) beat Bethany (0-8, 0-8). Romano threw for 171 yards while David Reid rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns. Brett Phillips threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns for Bethany, including two to Elijah Moffatt, who caught four passes for 153 yards.
Thiel 20, Saint Vincent 10 – Daniel Rennie threw two touchdown passes in the final 1:57 of the game to lead Thiel (2-6, 2-6) to the PAC win against Saint Vincent (1-8, 1-8). Trailing by three points, Rennie capped off a 99-yard drive with a 4-yard scoring pass to Blake Joseph. Eighty-four seconds later, Rennie hit Jayveerh White with an 11-yard touchdown pass to put the game away. Rennie threw for 271 yards while WHite caught four passes for 89 yards.
Division II
Edinboro 24, Seton Hill 22 – Wilfredo Diaz had 18 tackles (seven solo), one sack and one forced fumble as Edinboro (3-6, 2-4) held on to defeat Seton Hill (3-6, 1-4) in PSAC play. Bo Swarrz ran for two Edinboro touchdowns while Isaac Bernard threw for 107 yards and a touchdown. Jake Cruz threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns for Seton Hill, which outgained Edinboro, 372-254.
IUP 35, Gannon 7 – Karst Hunter threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns – all to Maurice Massey – to lead IUP (6-3, 3-3) to the PSAC win at Gannon (2-6, 2-3). Massey caught six passes for 181 yards. Garrett Cox had 11 tackles and one of IUP’s four sacks. Jayden Whitaker paced Gannon’s offense with 198 passing yards and a rushing touchdown.
Division I FCS
St. Francis (Pa.) 34, Stonehill 0 – Nick Whitfield Jr. threw for two touchdowns and DeMarcus McElroy rushed for 147 of St. Francis’ 309 yards as the Red Flash eased by Stonehill.
St. Francis (3-6, 1-4 Northeast Conference) held Stonehill (1-7, 1-3) to just five first downs and 56 total yards — including minus-4 through the air. The Red Flash limited Stonehill to minus-1 yards of total offense in the first half.
St. Francis scored 20 points in the second quarter on drives of four, four and six plays, highlighted by McElroy’s 50-yard run. Whitfield connected with Jahmil Perryman for a 46-yard touchdown to begin the fourth quarter for a 27-0 lead. Whitfield found Gavin Thomson from 14-yards out to cap the scoring with 6:22 left.
Whitfield was 9 of 17 for 168 yards for St. Francis. Markell Holman added 15 runs for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
