Stats: Over 53 games in five college seasons, Kent had 235 tackles (171 solo, 4½ for loss), two interceptions, 47 passes defended and two forced fumbles.

Hometown: Harrisburg, Pa.

Tidbits: A four-year starter who was a first-team all-conference honoree in the MAC in 2022 and second-team each of the past two seasons. … Overall, started 48 of the 53 college games he played, including the season finale of the 2020 covid season as a true freshman. … A team captain as a fifth-year senior, Kent also handled some punt-return duties, averaging 13.6 yards on 16 returns with a 68-yard touchdown in the season opener. … According to Pro Football Focus, Kent played the vast majority of his defensive snaps his redshirt freshman and sophomore seasons as an outside cornerback but played in the slot roughly two-thirds of his defensive snaps the past two seasons. … Played at Harrisburg High School and was part of PIAA state finalist teams his freshman and senior seasons. … Was named to the PA all-state team as a senior. … Kent was the only member of this year’s Steelers draft class not to come out of a Big Ten program. … Is the first Central Michigan product drafted by the Steelers since defensive lineman L.T. Walton in 2015. Joins tight end Mike Hirn (1982) and receiver Antonio Brown (2010) as CMU alumni drafted by the Steelers. … No MAC products had been drafted by the Steelers since 2019, when receiver Diontae Johnson (Toledo) and linebacker Ulysees Gilbert (Akron) were taken in the third and sixth rounds, respectively.
