Duquesne gets verbal commitment from ex-Furman forward Alex Williams, 4th transfer to join Dukes
Dru Joyce III has been Duquesne’s head coach for less than a month, and he’s wasted no time restocking the Dukes’ roster. The most recent of the four transfer players to give Joyce a verbal commitment is former Furman forward Alex Williams, who made his announcement Friday.

Williams (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) announced his verbal commitment on X after spending the past three seasons with Furman.
During the 2023-2024 season when Furman finished 17-16, Williams played in 25 games, with 16 starts, while averaging 26.9 minutes per game and shooting 39.9% from beyond the 3-point arc. He was second on the team in scoring (13.2 points per game) and second in rebounds (4.8).
In a 97-83 loss to Arkansas on Dec. 4, he scored 20 points. He followed up with 31 against Bob Jones (S.C.) University, 23 vs. Tulane, 26 against The Citadel, 20 againust East Tennessee State and 23 vs. VMI.
Prior to receiving Williams’ commitment, Joyce added forward Jahsean Corbett (Chicago State) and guards Cameron Crawford (Marshall) and Tre Dinkins (Canisius).
