Halil-Barre played in prep school this past season at Scotland Campus in central Pennsylvania. Reportedly born in Africa and raised mostly in France, Halil-Barre previously played high school basketball in Florida.

Halil-Barre’s commitment comes within days of verbal commitments by Slovakian forward Matus Hronsky and VCU transfer Tre Clark.

Duquesne went 6-24 last season and most of its rotation has since entered the transfer portal.
