Duquesne guard Jackie Johnson III enters NCAA transfer portal

After only one season at Duquesne, freshman guard Jackie Johnson III has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Johnson (5-foot-11, 185 pounds) played in all 30 games for the Dukes this season, starting 11, and averaging 19.3 minutes per game. He was a valuable shooter from beyond the 3-point arc, leading the team with 41 successful shots in 110 attempts (37.3%, third).

He shot 42.4% overall (103 of 243) and finished fifth on the team with a per-game scoring average of 9.5.

Duquesne finished last in the Atlantic 10 this season (6-24, 1-16).

A native of Wichita, Kansas, Johnson came to Duquesne from Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy where he led the team to a 31-1 record while averaging more than 27 points per game. Among point guards, he was rated No. 34 in the nation by Rivals.com.
