Duquesne men’s basketball hired Chase Goldstein as its new assistant coach on May 6, 2024.

First-year Duquesne men’s basketball coach Dru Joyce III filled an open position on his staff Monday when he announced the hiring of assistant coach Chase Goldstein, formerly of the University of Missouri.

Goldstein replaces Terry Weigand, who is no longer with the Duquesne program after spending 22 years under former Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot with three schools.

Before his time at Missouri, Goldstein spent three seasons with Joyce on the staff at Cleveland State as director of basketball operations.

At Missouri, he was on a staff that helped the Tigers record the seventh-largest turnaround in NCAA Division I, including the most among programs from a power conference. The Tigers went from 12-21 in 2021-22 to 25-10 in 2022-23 while reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

“Chase Goldstein has all the tools necessary to excel in leading our student-athletes,” Joyce III said in a statement. “He will star in his new role as assistant coach, guiding the staff in program and player development. Through his journey, coach Goldstein has elevated every staff he has been a part of, helping guide Missouri to an NCAA Tournament in his first year.”

At Cleveland State, he helped the Vikings finish with a record of 60-40, including 38-21 in the Horizon League.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Duquesne basketball family,” Goldstein said in a statement. “There is a lot of momentum around the program and the university coming off a highly successful season thanks to an Atlantic 10 title and NCAA Tournament appearance.

“Coach Joyce is the perfect coach to lead the Dukes and continue to build on that recent success. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work side-by-side with him as we establish Duquesne as one of the premier programs in college basketball.”

He also served as video coordinator for the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA during the 2015-16 season and assistant coordinator of operations at Florida Gulf Coast, his alma mater, in 2016-2017. From 2017-2019, he was a member of the video coordination staff at Florida State.
