Fishing report: Conemaugh River yielding plenty of large walleye

• The outflow at Conemaugh River Lake is providing anglers with some larger walleye catches of late. The walleye appear to be most interested in minnows and jigs, per reports. There were also a few crappie catches reported, with small jigs presenting a solid option. In recent weeks, bass and perch are popular catches as well.

• After receiving a recent stocking, Indian Lake is teeming with rainbow trout. Anglers report using minnows and paste baits to catch the trout.

• Fishermen who are casting into the Youghiogheny River are reeling in muskellunge with regularity. The catch rate has only appeared to increase in recent days, as large stick baits are being utilized to solid results.

• Twin Lakes recently was stocked with brook trout, and anglers are picking plenty of the trout up while using meal worms and spinners for their setup.

• The Monongahela River in Washington County is yielding flathead catfish, particular in the areas where structures are embedded along the rivers. Cut bait is working well.

• Presque Isle Bay is still a productive spot for anglers who are in search of yellow perch. While it appears the catch rate has slightly declined, anglers are still doing well enough from the shoreline to make the bay worthy of a visit.

• Lake Erie is offering up a number of Lake Trout to fishermen who are trolling the shallower portions of the lake. The surrounding tributaries are hitting for steelhead as well. Smaller presentations appear to be fetching the best results for the steelhead, according to reports.

• In Clarion County, the Allegheny River is still giving fishermen plenty of action with walleye, smallmouth bass and muskellunge. Additionally, a few anglers have reported some northern pike catches in the area where the river converges with the Clarion River.

• At Kahle Lake, fishermen are bringing in a variety of fish, including yellow perch, crappie and some nice-sized bluegill.

• Walleye and Yellow Perch are still biting in the Upper Clarion River. Anglers are reporting a growing number of crappie catches as well.

• Fishermen are using bladebaits and jigs to reel in largemouth bass at Lake Wilhelm. Most of the catches are bass but a few walleye bites are being reported, too.
