Fishing report: Smallmouth bass biting at Pymatuning Reservoir

• Anglers fishing Pymatuning Reservoir are hitting on smallmouth bass, with a few largemouth bass catches being reported as well. The walleye bite has slowed but fishermen are still catching them, albeit mostly at night. The strategy for picking up the walleye appears to be drifting crawler harnesses, per reports. As usual, there is a solid deal of catfish swimming the reservoir’s waters.

• Raccoon Lake is becoming a hot spot for largemouth bass and panfish. Live bait such as worms is the preferred method for fishermen. Trout catches are not coming in at a rapid pace but they are slow and steady.

• At Twin Lakes, anglers are enjoying solid results while trolling for trout. According to reports, paste baits appear to be working well.

• Greenlick Park is giving up plenty of bass to fishermen who are casting out into its waters. At night, the bass bite is giving way to panfish, which anglers are catching with nightcrawlers.

• Anglers at Fourmile Run are still seeing plenty of trout action. Fishermen using live bait such as minnows or nightcrawlers are doing well.

• Largemouth bass is the popular catch among fishermen trolling High Point Lake. There are reports of bluegill catches recently, too.

• Quemahoning Reservoir is yielding generous amounts of walleye to anglers in the area. The catch rate for northern pike appears to be rising at the lake as well.

• Youghiogheny River Lake is still harboring a sizable number of smallmouth bass. Fishermen are also reeling in the occasional walleye catch.

• Trout catches appear to be on the rise at Glade Run Lake. Paste baits are a lucrative strategy for catching the trout, of late.

• The walleye at Lake Arthur are keeping anglers busy, as fishermen casting out from the shore are doing well using spinners in their setups. The channel catfish catches have also remained consistent.

• Bass are biting at Justus Lake as fishermen are doing reasonably well with smallmouth and largemouth.

• In Venango County, the Allegheny River has seen volatile water levels recently. In favorable conditions, however, anglers report finding smallmouth bass in droves. Walleye and northern pike are also hitting in this section of the river.

• A variety of catches are being reported at Kahle Lake, with anglers bringing in largemouth bass, yellow perch, bluegills and crappies. The largemouth bass are the most active in the last few weeks.
