Fishing report: Substantial bass, northern pike at Yellow Creek Lake
• The largemouth bass bite is going strong at Yellow Creek Lake, with anglers catching bass in numbers from the shore and by boat. Fishermen are also picking up northern pike, some of which are measuring in at substantial lengths with one report claiming a 35-inch-plus catch.
• Keystone Lake is hosting a variety of fish, including bluegill, largemouth bass, yellow perch and crappie.
• Two-Lick Reservoir is providing fishermen with plenty of crappie catches.
• Mahoning Creek Lake is shaping up to be a productive spot to visit for anglers who are looking to reel in bass as the lake is seeing solid numbers of largemouth and smallmouth bass.
• At Lake Wilhelm, fishermen are doing well with largemouth bass and walleye. Reports indicate anglers picking up walleye using live baits and soft plastic baits. More than a handful of crappie catches were reported at the lake as well.
• Shenango Reservoir is a prime spot for anglers who are looking for white bass and hybrid striped bass. Visitors to the reservoir are utilizing a wide range of soft plastic baits and are seeing success with the bass. Anglers are also doing well with crappie.
• The rate of crappie catches is increasing at Lake Arthur. They are biting at night crawlers and minnows. Anglers at the lake are also seeing a number of hybrid striped bass begin their approach to the shallower waters in recent days.
• In Warren County, fishermen casting out into the Allegheny River are enjoying plenty of smallmouth bass action. According to reports, the area by the Route 59 bridge is a hot spot as anglers are scoring catches of bass, walleye and northern pike.
• The Beaver River has a number of different fish swimming its waters, such as walleye, flathead catfish and muskies. The catfish appear to be the predominant catch in recent weeks but anglers are reporting success with all three types of fish using jigs and minnows.
• The Monongahela River in Greene County is still yielding sizable flathead catfish as anglers are reporting catches of 30-plus pounds with regularity.
• The bluegill fishing is going well at High Point Lake. Live baits such as crickets, worms or grasshoppers should work well.
