Former Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Landry Jones will be back under center in the new XFL.
Jones landed with the Dallas Renegades, where he was reunited with head coach Bob Stoops, who was Jones’ coach in college at Oklahoma.
Jones was the first player to sign a contract with the league.
“I’m looking forward to joining the XFL and playing the game I love. I can’t wait to suit-up,” Jones said in August in a release.
The XFL announced the quarterbacks for the eight teams in the new league. A two-day draft starts Tuesday.

Jones, who was drafted by the Steelers in 2013, was released by the team before the start of the 2018 NFL season. He was 3-2 in five career starts for the Black and Gold.
He hooked up for short stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders.

The XFL plans on starting play in February 2020. The teams are Dallas Renegades, Houston Roughnecks, Los Angeles Wildcats, Seattle Dragons, DC Defenders, New York Guardians, St. Louis BattleHawks and Tampa Bay Vipers.
