In wake of NFL Week 11 honor, Jaylen Warren doesn’t foresee changes to Steelers run game

For everyone advocating wholesale changes to the Pittsburgh Steelers offense in the wake of the firing of coordinator Matt Canada, running back Jaylen Warren reminds that in some aspects, they don’t want to change anything at all.
The rushing offense is on a proverbial heater. The past three games have produced the top three rushing yardage totals for the season: 166, 205 and 172, respectively, for an average of 181.0 that over the course of the full season would lead the NFL.
“We don’t plan on doing anything different,” Warren said of the running game. “Just staying true to us, keeping it simple.”
Warren has accounted for 318 of those rushing yards the past three weeks on 35 carries, setting a new career high for rushing yards in a game each week (88, 111, 129). Over that span, Warren has averaged 9.1 yards with 13 of 35 carries topping 10 or more yards.
The longest of which accounted for the Steelers’ lone touchdown during this past Sunday’s 13-10 loss at the Cleveland Browns. That 74-yard run was the Steelers’ longest rushing gain in more than nine years, and it helped Warren earn him the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.
Warren had nine carries for 129 yards against Cleveland, the latest evidence many fans point to that Warren should get more carries than starter Najee Harris (12 rushes for 35 yards against the Browns).
“Whatever (coaches) say,” Warren said after practice Thursday. “I don’t expect nothing. Whatever they feel is best for us to win.”
