A day after his 26th birthday, pitcher Jared Kollar received a gift: a promotion in the minor leagues.

Kollar, a Latrobe and Seton Hill alum, is headed to Triple-A with the San Diego Padres.

His 9-3 record and 3.04 ERA in 15 starts were good enough to earn him a bump from Double-A San Antonio to Triple-A El Paso. Kollar, who has 77 strikeouts in 83 innings this season, has 16 wins in the minors over three years. He signed with San Diego as a free agent in 2022.

He played his final season of college baseball at Rutgers.
