Minor league report: Nailers’ winning streak snapped in overtime

Goaltender Jake Smith made 32 saves on 34 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va., on Sunday.

The result was the first loss of the season for Smith (7-0-1) and snapped a four-game winning streak for Wheeling (14-3-1-0).

Forward Matthew Quercia scored the Nailers’ only goal.

Cyclones defenseman Elijah Vilio scored the winning goal 41 seconds into overtime.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a road contest against the Reading Royals on Wednesday, 7 p.m.
