Minor league report: Penguins come back to down Rocket

Forwards Ville Koivunen, Joona Koppanen and Sam Poulin each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-3 comeback win against the Laval Rocket at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Defenseman Mac Hollowell and forward Emil Bemstrom both recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (10-4-1-0) which overcame a 3-1 deficit to claim victory.

Goaltender Joel Blomqvist made 29 saves on 32 shots to boost his record to 2-1-0.

Highlights:

Earlier in the day, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton recalled goaltender Sergei Murashov from the Wheeling Nailers.

The Penguins’ next game is a road contest against the rival Hershey Bears on Saturday, 7 p.m.


Two goals by forward Gabe Klassen led the Wheeling Nailers to a 5-1 win against the Cincinnati Cyclones at Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati.

Defenseman Chris Ortiz and forward Kyle Jackson each had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (11-3-1-0) which has won seven consecutive games while forward Jordan Martel contributed three assists.

In his season debut, goaltender Luke Richardson made 19 saves on 20 shots in the victory.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Cyclones on Saturday, 7:10 p.m.
