Minor league report: Penguins drop Game 2, Nailers swept by Walleye

Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 30 saves on 34 shots for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 6-2 road loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds in Game 2 of an Atlantic Division semifinal series at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass. on Thursday.

The Falcons lead the best-of-five series, 2-0.

Defensemen P.O Joseph and Will Reilly each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Highlights:

Game 3, at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, is scheduled for Sunday, 5:05 p.m.

The Wheeling Nailers’ season came to an end with a 3-1 home loss to the Toledo Walleye in Game 4 of the Central Division final series at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va.

Toledo swept the best-of-seven series, 4-0.

Goaltender Mitchell Weeks made 17 saves on 20 shots in the defeat while forward Matt Alfaro scored the Nailers’ lone goal.
