Minor league report: Penguins edge Bears

Goaltender Tommy Nappier made 23 saves on 24 shots and led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 2-1 home win against the rival Hershey Bears on at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Forwards Alexander Nylander and Patrick Watling each scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (11-15-1-3).

Highlights:

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

Forward Justin Almeida, a Penguins prospect, scored two goals, including one in overtime, and recorded an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-3 road win against the Orlando Solar Bears at Amway Arena in Orlando, Fla.

Defenseman Chris Ortiz added a goal and two assists for Wheeling (16-14-1-0) while goaltender Stefanos Lekkas made 37 saves on 40 shots in the victory.

Highlights:

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday, 7:10 p.m.
